The short answer

There is no 2023 trailer for the Permafrost survival game. The studio was founded in 2023, but the game was first revealed with the Permafrost Gameplay Teaser on May 21, 2024. The trailers dated 2021 and 2022 on YouTube belong to an unrelated film also called Permafrost. The newest official video is the Early Access launch trailer from early October 2026, which you can watch on this page.

Why there is no 2023 trailer

The game's history explains the confusion. In its announcement, Toplitz said a team of three started building the prototype informally in December 2022. SpaceRocket Games was officially founded in 2023 and later grew to 15 people in Warsaw, Poland.

Nothing was shown publicly during 2023. The game was announced on May 21 and 22, 2024, as Japanese outlet AUTOMATON reported at the time. The Steam news feed for the game also starts in May 2024, with no posts or videos from 2023.

So when you search for a 2023 trailer, you are most likely mixing up dates. The studio's founding year, the long road to release and an unrelated film can all point to 2023. The first real trailer is the 2024 Gameplay Teaser.

The other Permafrost: a film

Permafrost is also the title of a post-apocalyptic film directed by Lenni Uitto and produced by Xelot Film. It follows a broken bounty hunter in a frozen wasteland. Its teaser and official trailer came out on YouTube in 2021 and 2022.

The film was released digitally on January 5, 2024, which keeps it close to the game's reveal in search results. It has no connection to SpaceRocket Games or Toplitz Productions. Searches for permafrost science, such as thawing ground in the Arctic, add even more noise.

Permafrost — Early Access Launch Trailer (Toplitz Productions)

The launch trailer is the newest official video and the best place to start. It follows the main character Rook into the frozen world and ends by pointing to the October 9 Early Access release. Toplitz posted it on its YouTube channel on October 5, 2026.

IGN also published an official Early Access release trailer on October 2. In the trailers, Rook hears a message from his friend Icarus and heads into the cold to find him. Fire, shelter and storms run through every scene, matching the game's focus on survival.

Every official trailer in order

These are the official trailers with their upload dates. Most appeared on the Toplitz Productions channel, and several were mirrored by IGN. They show how the game changed from reveal to launch.

Trailers that marked big moments

Several trailers lined up with major announcements. The gamescom 2024 trailer was the first big showing after the reveal, and the OTK Games Expo trailer in May 2025 was billed by the team as colder, deadlier and more intense than before. Each one pushed the game to a larger audience.

The Forever Blue trailer on June 6, 2026 included the release date announcement. That date later moved from August 21 to October 9, 2026, so the final launch trailers carry the October date. The Steam posts for the September and October trailers both point players to the October 9 Early Access start.

The most watched trailer

Permafrost — “Until The World Ends” Trailer (Toplitz Productions)

The Until The World Ends trailer from November 2025 is the most viewed video on the official channel, with more than 400,000 views. It is built around a song rather than spoken narration or gameplay commentary. It is a good pick if you want the mood of the game without story spoilers.

It arrived in November 2025, between the 2025 gamescom trailer and the 2026 release-date reveal. IGN mirrored it on its own channel, which helped it reach a wider audience. Search for the title on the Toplitz Productions channel to find the original upload, or play it in the player above.

The 2024 Gameplay Teaser

Permafrost — Gameplay Teaser, May 2024 (Toplitz Productions)

The Gameplay Teaser from May 21, 2024 is where it all started. Its description sets up a bleak, open-world urban landscape after a moon-related disaster called the Shattering. Billions have died in the deep freeze, and the old political and economic order has collapsed.

The first Steam post from the same day added more detail. It set the story in 2035 and promised base building, resource gathering, crafting and a loyal dog companion. It also confirmed play alone or with up to three friends.

The story the trailers tell

The Story Trailer from September 2026 explains how the world ended. Strange signals came from the moon, cities were hit by disaster, and then the moon shattered into a ring that blocked the sun. Ten years later, Earth is locked in a never-ending winter.

An official Steam post called The Shattering fills in the timeline month by month. Tides went strange, oceans rose, satellites drifted away and the real cold arrived. By the time the moon broke apart, the last communities had sealed themselves in shelters.

The game picks up in 2035, ten years later. You play Rook, an engineer following a radio message from Icarus toward City Mall. Read the Permafrost wiki for the characters and factions.

The Deep Dive trailer

The Official Deep Dive trailer from July 2026 is the most informative. Lead producer Nico walks through the game and explains that winter affects exploration, survival, combat and every decision. He also introduces the deadly Cold Zones.

The video covers regions with their own dangers, factions with their own values, wildlife and the dog companion. It ends on base building and co-op. It is the best trailer to watch before reading our beginner guide.

Where to watch official videos

The official home for trailers is the Toplitz Productions YouTube channel. IGN uploads many of the same trailers, and the Steam store page embeds the latest ones. Every trailer on this page plays right here, through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player.

The publisher also streams on Twitch. Before launch, it held a Campfire Night stream on October 8 and gave away keys during its weekly broadcast. Follow the official channels for new trailers as Early Access updates arrive.
